Located just north of DC in Montgomery County Maryland, this addition to an existing ranch style residence will provide additional space for a family of six. A new mudroom entry into the kitchen was created in a corner of the existing carport to provide storage for coats and shoes. The existing open steel tube columns of the carport will be built out and clad with paneling & trim. Cabinets in the kitchen were rearranged and supplemented to improve workflow. An existing wall between the kitchen and new dining room was removed to create a more open connection. The dining room replaces an existing sunroom and will accommodate larger gatherings with extended family. A wood deck and stone terrace extends into the backyard from the dining room to create a place for outdoor gatherings. The Addition will be clad in painted fiber cement panels and vertical battens. Windows throughout the house will be replaced with aluminum-clad windows with simulated divided lites.
