In order to create more space for an expanding family in Brookland, we’re converting an existing attic to a full third floor. The existing attic was significantly under-utilized due to the sloping ceilings. The new floor will replace the entire roof framing with a full floor to provide a new primary suite, including a walk-in closet. The remains floor space will be used as an open gym space. From the street, the design preserves the original character of the home, keeping the existing front gable as a dormer feature. A complementary vertical siding on the addition helps to harmoniously scale the addition to it’s neighbors.
