Our Silver Spring Addition is quickly approaching substantial completion. Since the last post a lot of progress has been made, mostly on the interior. Painting is currently ongoing throughout the home. The mudroom floor tile, storage cabinet, wood paneling, and coat hooks are all now installed. Decorative lighting installation will follow upon completion of the painting in this space.

The kitchen is now mostly complete with cabinets, countertops, and appliances installed. Wood floating shelves will eventually occupy the corner wall adjacent to the range. Pendant lights will run along the L-shaped peninsula. The dining room wood paneling and reclaimed ceiling beams are now installed adding both subtle texture as well as natural elements. A pair of pendant lights will hang above the dining table, and will be supplemented with recessed lighting. Glazing on all three walls immerses the dining space into the backyard vegetation, while the large opening to the kitchen adds to the overall spaciousness of the room.
Exterior progress continues to be plagued by long lead times on decking, and exterior vertical siding. All doors & windows, including the replacements, have now been installed. The windows are all finished in black paint which makes them seem even larger than the original windows (see previous post), although the openings are all the same size. Painting of the existing exterior brick wall has also begun, featuring a white paint that offers a sharp contrast to the windows. We hope to be complete next month so check back for updates!
