Site Visit: Petworth Open Concept

It’s been over 2 months since we posted updates on this townhouse renovation, so as you can imagine there has been a lot of progress. During that time-span wall framing, ductwork, insulation, plumbing, electrical wiring and a new TPO roof was installed. Spray foam insulation was installed at the addition walls to seal any openings in the existing side walls that were retained. During demolition we discovered that the old roof access was concealed with drywall as part of one of the numerous renovations over the years. A new roof access hatch with folding ladder was installed above the main stair landing. The TPO roof installed is a white color which helps to keep the upper rooms cool and reduce energy costs.

For the lowered basement slab the adjacent footings were retained to save cost on foundation underpinning. The footings will be eventually finished with wood trim. A mass of masonry was discovered in the crawlspace when the wall paneling was removed. This crawlspace masonry was demolished to allow light into the basement and views to the courtyard – windows to be installed soon. The focus on site is now drywall and tile finish installation. The renovation should be wrapping up in a few weeks, just in time to enjoy the summer months!
